ICESCR Submissions

The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) is a treaty concerning economic, social, and cultural rights. Ireland ratified this treaty in 1985 and was examined by the ISESCR Committee in 2015. In June 2015, JFM Research made a submission to the Committee, while Dr Katherine O’Donnell and Maeve O’Rourke represented JFMR as part of the civil society delegation in Geneva. In relation to the Magdalene Laundries, the Committee’s Concluding Observations recommended that the Irish State should ‘conduct a prompt, thorough and independent investigation into these allegations, bring those responsible to justice and provide all victims with effective remedies‘.
